SPINAL MANIPULATION IS EFFECTIVE
AND COST REDUCING FOR SPINE CARE
The Chiropractic TRUhealthDR welcomes all spine
pain patients! We know the frustration that comes with spine pain. Colorado Springs chiropractic
spinal manipulation helps. Though low back pain is
a major cause of disability globally, its
sufferers who have persistent or recurrent episodes of low back pain report that chiropractic
maintenance care is effective as it is
patient-centered care. (1) Neck pain sufferers, too, discover
relief with chiropractic. Neck pain patients treated with
spinal manipulation – 90% of which is delivered by chiropractors in the US – were found to be 2.38 times less likely to need higher
level and more expensive care like imaging,
injection, emergency room or surgery (just 26%) than patients who were treated
with other type of care (46%). (2) A recent study of
Medicare patient claims reveals that patients who had less
access to chiropractic care had an increase in visits
(32.3 a year) to primary care physicians for spine pain and a rise in spine surgeries (5.5 a year) costing an extra $114,967 per 1000
Medicare beneficiaries and $391 million nationally. (3) Your Colorado Springs
chiropractor is well-qualified in performing
spinal manipulation. Spinal manipulation
is and has been advised as first-line treatment for low back
pain. Medicare claims’ reviews note
that chiropractors are the majority of healthcare providers for spinal
manipulation and that the overall supply of spinal manipulation
providers is falling. (4) Have no
fear! Your hometown, Colorado Springs chiropractor has no intention of not providing pain-relieving spinal manipulation, especially
the gentle, research-backed Cox® Technic style of spinal
manipulation.
Listen to this PODCAST
with Dr. Kurt Olding on The
Back Doctors Podcast with Dr. Michael Johnson as he discusses the role of spinal manipulation in the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain
Management for the relief of spinal stenosis, a common spine pain condition
in the over-65 age group.
Colorado Springs CHIROPRACTIC TIP
OF THE MONTH:
Beneficial B Vitamins
B vitamins are beneficial. B12 deficiency is commonly
linked with dementia in patients over
65 years of age. It has also been found in younger
people who have normal B12 levels but their
methylmalonic acid (MMA) level is high. Checking the MMA level
may be considered in patients with symptoms that seem unconnected
as in one patient with neuropathy, depression and stomach issues who tested a
high level of MMA. (5) Biotin (B7) supplementation
is showing potential in the treatment of neuropathic pain
and could reduce the necessary doses of analgesic
drugs. (6) Riboflavin (B2) in foods and via supplements is renowned
for its antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory effects among others. A
new study reported that B2 offers anti-itch properties. (7) Are your B levels good?
